My photographic career began with a photography apprenticeship in West Berlin in the late eighties.

Wishing to study the nature of photography more intensively, to train my eye and to perfect my technique, I then moved to Hamburg. There, I worked as an assistant to some outstanding photographers, and during this time I discovered my great passion for still life photography.

In 1994, I opened my own photography studio in the harbour area of Hamburg, where I worked for some renowned magazines and photography agencies.

My work began to achieve increasing recognition in the world of advertising and I started to receive commissions from advertising agencies entrusting me with the implementation of sophisticated motifs and campaigns.

Since then, my clients have included well-known agencies such as Scholz & Friends, KNSK, Springer & Jacoby, Jung von Matt, FCB Wilkens, DDB, Leo Burnett, BBDO and TBWA. I produce work for customers such as Avené, BAT Cigarettefabriken, Beiersdorf, Deutsche Bank, Juvena, Mercedes Benz, Philip Morris, Siemens, Sony, Sparkasse and Volkswagen.

I returned to Berlin in 2004, and have lived and worked here ever since.

The vast majority of my work takes place in my studio. For me, an exquisite use of lighting and a consistently pared-down compositional language are essential design elements, shaping the clarity and aesthetic of my visual language. I aim to go beyond the simplistic and create compositions which draw out all that is essential in my subject matter. At the highest level, photographic technique is simply a means to an end; my focus is on the concept of the image.
